This year is the Kansas Chapter’s 50th Anniversary. Help us celebrate by attending our Spring Conference in Lawrence on May 1st through the 3rd. Our Conference Planning Committee, led by Jeff Lackey have put together a great program ranging from a Magician teaching the “tricks” to great leadership to our National APWA President updating us on National issues impacting Public Works. As the year comes to a close, I want to say thank you again to the members of our Kansas Chapter for helping me and the Executive Committee to have a great 2012. Some highlights and goals that were achieved in 2012 are as follows. - The chapter hosted successful Spring and Fall conferences - Two roundtables were held with one in Dodge City and one in Lawrence - Website communication was vastly improved with our new webmaster from the City of Winfield, Jerred Schmidt - Mike Fraser helped to start a Retired Professional Assistance Program with a Spring conference presentation and website location for sign ups - Our chapter activities and performance again qualified us to be recognized for PACE award at the 2012 National Congress in Anaheim, CA.... read more

This program is intended to provide assistance to APWA Chapter member communities. The goal is to match retired persons willing to volunteer their public works expertise with communities that request assistance. The advice and recommendations provided by volunteers in this program is in no way intended to be a substitute for professional consulting or engineering services. I have just returned from vacation in Colorado where we left a cool mountain morning of 42 degrees en route back to the hot summer days of Kansas.
